Clean up this mess! thumbnailDeep ditches either side of the road conceals a large quantity of unwanted items ranging from old gates to a child’s pram.

FRESH incidents of illegal dumping in a quiet part of the Coleraine countryside have led to new calls for a clean-up. Sometime between Tuesday night and the early hours of last Wednesday morning more rubbish was left along the Castleroe Road close to the Riding for the Disabled centre.
And it's been claimed fly-tipping occurs there every week.
Items discarded at the side of the road in the latest incident include car components, electrical goods and general household waste including till receipts, cigarette packets, drink bottles, finished toilet products and razor blades.
The issue was raised by one of The Chronicle's photographers who frequently drives along the road on his way to covering jobs for the paper. Chris Roberts says there is also remnants of an old bed and a number of pushchairs.
The manner in which the rubbish was scattered over the road last week was particularly concerning, according to Chris, who felt it could lead to an accident.
“It was clear that a vehicle had come along and clipped the box which contained all the rubbish," he said. "At that point it was partially blocking the road, so I got in touch with Council.
