Itís only rock ní roll but I like it! thumbnailCarol Conley and son Jason pictured at the Lisburn Half Marathon earlier this year. A conversation between the pair prompted Carol to enter his first half marathon.

A COLERAINE woman, who accepted a wager claiming that she would never complete a half marathon, is putting the finishing touches to plans to run her 12th later this month - in the gambling mecca of Las Vegas! Carol Conley, who only began running in her early 50s, took up the challenge following a chance remark from her son, Jason, an experienced runner himself.
“He bet me I would never run a half marathon because I talked about doing it for years. I bought a treadmill the next day," laughed Carol.
“I started running in 2014 at the age of 53 and, to date, I have completed one full marathon and 11 half marathons.
“This will be my fifth run this year but I wanted to do something special for my 13th which is why I signed up for the Rock and Roll Las Vegas Half Marathon," she added.
“I have always kept fit, enjoying yoga, aerobics and swimming, but this is something different entirely."
This, being Las Vegas, it's certainly different. "It is the one day in the year that the Vegas Strip is closed and we'll be running through the city at night," continued Carol.
